About Us
Our Mission
Bay Area Creative Kids (B.A.C.K.) was formed to give more children in Benicia and the surrounding area a chance to create and grow through the dramatic and visual arts. The goal of my classes is always to inspire children to be comfortable speaking and telling their stories, whether it is to their friends, their families, in their classroom, or on a stage. Theater inspires confidence to bring their stories to life and to let their voices be heard. With our youngest learners in mind, BACK is committed to small class sizes so every child gets their chance to shine!
Our Programs
Our preschool, after school, and summer theater programs for children ages 2.5 - 12 are a great way to introduce the long-term benefits of dramatic arts participation which include developing motor and speaking skills, building confidence and teamwork, and enhancing early social skills and creative learning. Most classes include acting, music, art, puppetry, and stagecraft, as all are part of the multi-discipline art of theater.
Children ages 12 to 18 are also invited to apply to our Theater Apprenticeship program and start sharing their joy in theater with their younger peers!
Creative Director- Jennifer Sundberg
BACK's theater arts classes and summer camps in Benicia are led by Creative Director, Jennifer Sundberg. Ms. Sundberg fell in love with theater at the age of 10, but discovered her joy in teaching when she worked with her first children's theater company over 25 years ago. She is proud to be able to provide theater opportunities for children age 2-12 in Benicia. Ms. Sundberg has a BA in Theatre and English Literature from the University of Mississippi and an ASCC Certification from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
